Based on the proposed scenarios, the main objective of WP2 is to design an Open System Architecture for Ambient Intelligence. The architecture aims at supporting context aware interaction between the user, his mobile handset and his vicinity environment offering to the user access to a wide range of new services. In order to define the overall system architecture the following introductory tasks will be required: technical evaluation of the AmI scenarios from WP1 and identification of the key devices needed to implement the AmI scenarios and their detailed technical requirements.
The WP2 focuses on the following aspects:
Overall architecture and interfaces including activities such as: state of the art of existing technologies and definition of the generic innovative core technology of modules (building blocks) to be developed within MIMOSA and technical requirements and interfaces for the MIMOSA modules with related issues in manufacturing, assembly and packaging.
Local connectivity architecture (ultra low power radio and RF tags)
Intelligent sensors and architectures for context information processing
Novel user interfaces for ambient intelligence
Integration methodology and tools
Demonstration boards validating short-range communications as well as remote sensing functions
